Michael is a best-selling author, film producer, designer, and drummer with over 25-years of playing experience. He currently works as a session and performing player for his experimental band Question Everything (?E) and composes music with members of The Drowning. He also provides electronic and acoustic drums, loop programming, replicated video drumming and film choreography/performance for composer-filmmaker Attila Domos, most notably for the “Mind of Adam” and “Monkeys With Technology” project for his upcoming CD “The Eleventh Ninja”.
A finalist for the 2013 International Book Awards, Michael has written nine published books to date. He has also contributed essays and articles to over a dozen magazines and periodicals including Drumhead and Modern Drummer. Michael also co-authored the award-winning drum theory book FUNdamentals of Drumming for Kids (w/ Rich Redmond) which one “Best in Show” at the 2014 Summer NAMM and is an Amazon Best-Seller in four countries. The book is now being used as curriculum in private and classroom settings around the world.
Michael has produced four documentary films including “The Angel of Marye’s Heights” and “Sustainability Takes Center Stage” which was shot at the Nashville House of Blues and presented green-practices of environmentally-friendly drum manufactures. As a historian and music educator, Michael routinely lectures at universities, theaters, libraries and museums. He also provides online drum lessons via Skype to students and classrooms.
