Gentrie Pool

December 26, 2014: Gentrie Pool
Gentrie's husband, Matthew, was injured at the age of 17 swinging off of a tree swing into a lake. His foot became caught, pointing him into a diving position. After a 28 foot fall he hit head first into a shallow spot of 8 inches. He broke C5/C6 and has been paralyzed from the chest down for 22 years now. Because he was a minor when he became injured he only qualifies for a limited allowance through Medicaid, which is eaten up with government fees, caregivers, and medical supplies. His current truck is broke and pending an approval for repairs from the government. He has been asking to have it fixed or replaced for 2 years and it has fallen on deaf ears. Matthew is a film major at the University of Texas Arlington and can't attend school to complete his studies. When he graduates his dream is to be gainfully employed, but all of this is impossible until we get him an adapted van. As he has aged, so have his needs. It is impossible to drive the truck, even when and if it ever gets repaired. It's literally on it's last leg! He needs a van to maximize his independence as he is virtually home bound right now. I strongly feel as a community we CAN provide a better life for Matthew. Let's come together and do this! No donation is too small! Let's get Matthew a new set of wheels and back on the road of INDEPENDENCE!! His dream van is the Adapted Toyota Sienna. Network, spread the word, share, help us reach out to every person with a giving heart willing to donate to Matthews NEED. If you know of a dealership or any business that can support our mission please spread this message!
